Accounting Manager of OperationsIn Fort Collins, Colorado, Housing
Catalyst seeks an Accounting Manager of Operations to direct and
oversee a team of highly competent AP, AR, Payroll, and IT staff.
This position will ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable
rules, laws, and regulations. Housing Catalyst specializes in all
facets of affordable housing development and management, from
Low-Income Housing Tax Credit properties to permanent supportive
housing. Housing presents a complex challenge in any community.

Accounting. The annual hiring range for this position is $82,400 to
$103,000. The annual salary range is $82,400 to $123,600. Housing

benefits. Must have a primary residence in Larimer or Weld County
within six months of hire date. An organization-wide requirement
includes obtaining the People Manager Qualification (PMQ) from SHRM
within 12 months of the hire date. Example of General Duties
- Strategically plan, develop and monitor accounting operations
allocation of resources, track work processes, analyze real-time
performance, and execute improvements.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making skills to
provide effective leadership.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
and all other applicable rules, laws, and regulations.
- Actively model organizational culture for staff development
advancement.
- Manage and direct staff. Set and communicate performance
expectations. Hire, train, coach, mentor, and retain competent
staff.
- Build bench strength and cross-develop staff in workplace
knowledge to support business continuation.
- Through practical communication tools, inform, motivate, and
engage staff in daily operations and problem resolution.
- Manage accounts payables, purchase orders, vendors, and
internal control of the A/P function.
- Manage accounts receivable, collections, and internal control
of the A/R function.
- Direct the design, development, and implementation of
innovative workflow enhancements.
- Manage accounting software, including general ledger
maintenance, cost centers, workflow, and access.
- Direct and monitor IT staff, troubleshooting, and Yardi issues,
including implementing new or modified software.
- Approve journal entries and prepare and post journal entries
for more complex accounting areas.
- Approve Payroll, vendor payments, journal entries, and other
administrative processes.
- Manage the month-end close process, prepare financial reports,
and audit before distribution.
- Manage and maintain bank treasury relations, and open and close
accounts.
- Generate or approve bank transfers, provide internal control,
and statement of cash balances in all entities.
- Participate in the company budget process, prepare budgets, and
review budget proposals and justifications.
- Manage the audit process, liaison with the external audit firm,
and provide detail and narrative as requested.
- Manage accounting software, including general ledger
maintenance, cost centers, workflow, and access.
- Troubleshoot ERP and Yardi issues, including implementing new
or modified software modules and processes
- Exercise initiative and judgment, and make decisions within the
scope of assigned projects.
- Review work for accuracy, clarity, and readability; maintain
organized and complete files.
- Manage insurance renewals and new requests.
- Support HR in comp/benefits/insurance and updating information
in the system.
- Investigate financial variances and provide solutions.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards, act with
an appropriate sense of urgency and accountability, correctly
handle confidential information, and maintain professional
relations and boundaries with those contacted during work.
- Participate in training and educational opportunities for
ongoing professional development.
- In an emergency, they are considered essential personnel.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBA/BS degree in
Accounting. Progressive experience in planning, directing, and
coordinating accounting staff assignments, monitoring workflow and
systems performance. Experience in developing technical staff
growth. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with
employees to motivate and increase job engagement. Must have
comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all accounting
functions and workflow processes. Hands-on experience with
accounting budget cycle and reporting, AP, AR, and Payroll. Prior
success in direct oversight of operational accounting area, meeting
deadlines, and ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, laws,
and regulations. Demonstrated ability to utilize intuition and
resourcefulness to gather, synthesize, and incorporate a full range
of reliable data, facts, and other information from multiple
internal and external sources. Proficient in using accounting
software, Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe, ERP, and Yardi. To
