Position Type Faculty Work Hours/Week 40 Description of Work Unit The Graduate Program in Public Health ( GPPH ) at Colorado State University ( CSU ) is a part of the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH). ColoradoSPH is a collaborative school including three academic institutions, over 200 faculty, and over 500 students across three campuses. The CSU campus currently offers a Master of Public Health in 6 specialty areas, a certificate program, and has approximately 100 graduate students, and over 70 faculty across CSU with appointments in the ColoradSPH. No % Research 5 % Teaching 75 % Service 10 % Administration 10 To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on 03/22/2021 Number of Vacancies Desired Start Date 08/01/2021 Position End Date Position Summary The ColoradoSPH at CSU seeks a 9-month non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor. This position will receive a faculty appointment in an affiliated CSU department (determined by the candidate's background and expertise), but will hold full-time responsibility to the Special Academic Unit ( SAU ), the Graduate Degree Program in Public Health ( GDPPH ). The GDPPH currently offers graduate training in the field of public health through its Master of Public Health and Certificate in Public Health Sciences programs. This position requires a faculty member with expertise and applied experience in global health (defined broadly as pertaining to public health issues across the globe, and not just international health) as well as health equity and anti-oppressive practices, with an emphasis on the social and systemic determinants of health. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a college or university system, and at the graduate level. This position will include teaching a required concentration course related to global health and health equity, possibly a core required course, elective course(s), and serving as the faculty advisor for concentration students. Other teaching duties will be assigned based on the faculty member's individual background and public health expertise. As a concentration faculty advisor, this position will be responsible for serving in a mentor capacity to concentration students and assisting students in securing practicum and capstone placements. There will also be responsibilities for seeking out and building relationships with domestic and international practicum and capstone host sites. In an administrative capacity, this faculty member will serve as the lead concentration faculty for the current Global Health and Health Disparities concentration and will be expected to conduct a review of the concentration including the name, purpose, objectives, competencies and curriculum. This position will collect feedback from current faculty as well as current and past students, and possibly outside organizations and/or partners, and provide recommendations to program administrators on how to revise and improve the concentration. This position will then have a significant role in implementing changes. The faculty member will also be expected to assist the program in infusing discussion and content related to health equity across the core required MPH courses. Preference will be given to candidates who have training and experience in facilitating classroom conversations on topics such as racism and other prejudices, systemic oppression, personal privilege, health equity, and social justice. Candidates must demonstrate their contributions and/or potential to contribute to diversity and inclusion through teaching, research, and/or service/leadership. *At least two years of experience teaching or delivering public health related content to adult audiences
*Applied experience in Community-Based Participatory Research, community engagement, or other experience related to community collaboration in supporting health outcomes
*Experience in health equity as exhibited by trainings completed, trainings facilitated, teaching, community organizing, leadership, practice or research that is health equity focused
*Experience in facilitating conversations on topics such as racism, systemic oppression, health equity, social determinants of health, social justice and privilege
*Identified contributions and/or potential to contribute to diversity through teaching, research, and/or service/leadership
