POSITION SUMMARY The Reliability Engineer III is responsible for ensuring the outgoing quality and reliability performance of products supported through robust design process and systematic reduction, elimination and control of potential product and system failures. As a key member of the Product Development team, the Reliability Engineer develops and executes proven Design for Reliability processes and tools and mentors and coaches the design and other stakeholder communities to drive product excellence meeting customer expectations and corporate goals for quality and reliability.-- RESPONSIBILITIES Creates and executes a Product Development strategy for long-term reliability that includes:

  • Leads Design for Reliability - design concept selection, Parameter Diagram, robust system and component specification development, Parts Management, Stress Analysis, Margin and Tolerance Analysis, FMEA, Fault-tree Analysis, risk management, test strategy development, etc.
  • Performs Reliability Modeling, reliability allocation, and reliability target setting. Plans Reliability Verification/Improvement Testing - HALT, HASS, HAST, Life Test, Reliability Growth Test
  • Accurately estimates project scope (schedule and resources required) associated with executing Reliability strategies
  • Develops requirements to screen infant mortality and workmanship defects for near-term quality including but not limited to Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) and Burn-In Screening
  • Actively participates in Design Reviews to assure Reliability best practices are incorporated into the design
  • Analyzes Reliability test and field data and prepares Reliability performance reports
  • Drives Reliability Improvement Programs
  • Drives problem investigation and Corrective Action of complex failures
  • Develops and executes Qualification strategy for critical new parts and new manufacturers of those parts.
  • Mentor, coach, and train people supporting our talent management strategy. --SKILLS:--
    • Proficient in statistical, reliability, and engineering methodologies
    • Must be familiar with the systems engineering concepts
    • Must have strong, methodical, statistically-based problem-solving abilities.
    • Requires effectively communicating with and influencing design teams and customers.
    • Must be familiar with electronic-product operation, safety in use, and standard electrical test equipment. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a BS degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering. At least 10 years of industrial experience focusing on design and development of complex electrical and mechanical components and systems DESIRABLE: Greater than 5 years of relevant Reliability support of design/development platforms. Proven ability to methodically solve complex, technical issues.--
      • Certified 6-sigma or equivalent statistical, problem-solving methodology
