SUMMARY: The Applications Engineer II is a technologist who
understands and meets the technical marketing/applications needs of
Advanced Energy's customers and is a primary source guiding
engineering programs for new power system capabilities. The
position is "hands-on", requiring a thorough understanding of
current and emerging process requirements through direct engagement
with FAEs, process engineers and system designers. Specific
applications of interest include RF plasma systems for both etching
and deposition, along with emerging technologies in plasma
processes for semiconductor fabrication. The Applications Engineer
II works directly with Regional Market Managers and Product
Managers to understand current and emerging process needs and
requirements to enable customers to develop new films and
technologies. They will work closely with Field Application
Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Design Engineering, and Product
Management to advance AE's market position This role is also
instrumental in guiding AE's technical roadmap and defining system
requirements, as well as being the primary interface with the Field
Applications Engineers. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enable customers' successful implementation of plasma power
solutions and guide AE product development through technical
leadership
- Advanced technical knowledge of AE's products and technology,
as well as industry process requirements and trends, to enable
successful deployment of AE's technology to customers
- Represent AE technologies and expertise through conference and
tradeshow participation as a Technologist
- Understand industry trends and technical requirements to help
guide the product group's technology roadmap and to determine the
appropriate AE solutions
- Define the technical product requirements for new products and
for new features
- Serve as consultant to customers and FAEs to solve complex
problems related to products, technologies, and system
integration
- Serve as consultant to peer groups within AE (Marketing,
Product Management, Engineering and Sales) in support of new
product development and new business opportunities
- Assist Field Applications Engineers (FAEs) with understanding
advanced or difficult customer requirements to secure new design
wins
- Mentor FAE's by advancing their knowledge and understanding of
customer processes, AE products, advanced measurement and
analytical techniques, and customer technologies
- Advance AE's Intellectual Property and AE's technical
reputation position by contributing to patented technology and
communication via publications, patents and presentations
- Interest Group participation and influence in industry
standards committees and review boards encouraged
- Solid understanding of electrical measurement and analytical
techniques (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, MATLAB, Python,
etc.)
- Excellent technical and non-technical verbal and written
communication skills. Must be able to influence decisions and
actions with customers as well as technical and marketing groups
within AE
- Work with diverse cultures to build strong relationships within
AE, with AE's customers and with the worldwide industry technical
communities
- Basic knowledge of essential legal and regulatory requirements
in technology development (non-disclosure agreements, intellectual
property protection, etc.) WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Location: Fort Collins, CO
- Environment: Office, lab, customer facilities (both engineering
and production)
- Some domestic and international travel is required,
approximately 10%.
- Office first EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in plasma processing and power
supply -technologies
- In-depth knowledge of plasma power delivery products and
technology
- Experience with computer driven diagnostic equipment,
measurement instrumentation, data analysis
- 3-4 years of experience working directly with semiconductor
OEMs and/or end users, power supplies and industry processes
- Experience with industry standards and user groups. EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or Material
Science
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics or Material Science
COMPENSATION: As required by Colorado law under the Equal Pay for
Equal Work Act, -Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of
compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual
compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but
not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office
location. -For the hires in the state of Colorado -only, the range
of starting pay for this role is $80,000 -to $95,000 -per year. -
