Packaging Engineer
JBS Value AddedPurpose and Scope/General Summary: We are seeking a
Packaging Engineer to join our team here at our Corporate
Headquarters in Greeley, CO! This person will lead packaging
innovation, manage ongoing core business projects, troubleshoot
packaging quality concerns, and optimize the cost of packaging
materials. This role is responsible for designing and executing
packaging projects from concept to commercialization, cost
reduction and optimization initiatives, improving manufacturing
operations and managing packaging specifications. This position
reports to Research and Development Manager in Greeley,
CO.Responsibilities:Executes small-scale and large-scale plant
tests onsite at manufacturing locations.Works with suppliers,
procurement, and finance to monitor packaging costs and ensures
low-cost, high-quality materials are used wherever possible.Works
with packaging and equipment vendors to create and test packaging
materials for innovation and optimization opportunities.Responsible
for identifying, scoping, and initiating packaging waste reduction
initiatives with the plant teams and business teams.Creates and
manages product specifications and BOM reviewsMaintains accurate
and complete records, analyzes reportsUtilizes a working knowledge
of plant processes and facilitiesProvides onsite monitoring and
technical assistance to operations when testing/manufacturing new
products. Leads commercialization of product changes and
implementation of new items and processes.Works with
cross-functional team members to flawless implement new packaging
materials, manufacturing processes and new equipmentTravel,
approximately 50% of the time. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Bachelor s degree in packaging engineering, food
science or related field with 2-5 years of industry experience. Any
operations experience will be a plus and considered in conjunction
with R&D experience. Must be a driven individual that can take
ownership of projects and complete all the relevant R&D tasks
required for the job with moderate oversight.Strong knowledge of
packaging materials (primary, secondary, tertiary) and intermediate
understanding/interest in food/meat science Has an understanding of
root cause analysis and is comfortable using these skills to
investigate and solve problems at the manufacturing level. Good
network of packaging suppliers and equipment vendors is a
plus.Ability to interpret data and influence team with findings.Has
an understanding of packaging machines and is comfortable
troubleshooting material/equipment issues.Understands critical to
quality attributes and how to effectively implement manufacturing
practices to achieve these attributes. Computer skills that include
Word, Excel, PowerPointAbility to multitask and prioritize Must be
able to work closely with many departments including Sales,
Regulatory, R&D, Quality, Marketing, Purchasing, and
Production.Excellent collaboration, creative problem-solving skills
and organizational skillsMust be able to work in a food
manufacturing environment and be able to flawless transition
products and processes from R&D to operationsClear, concise
written and oral communication skills required with attention to
detail and accuracy mandatoryCan perform the functions of the job

the following compensation and benefits:Benefits: Vision, Medical,

the company vesting schedule; Base salary range of $75,000 -
$100,000; andIncentive Pay: This position is eligible to
participate in the Company s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus
varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the

reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. This
compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes
into account various factors that are considered in making
compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate s
