(MT) on 02/15/2021 Description of Work Unit The Pride Resource
Center ( PRC ) is part of the Division of Student Affairs, and more
specifically one of seven centers that comprise the Student
Diversity Programs and Services cluster that collaborate with one
another and departments across campus to support underrepresented
students at Colorado State University ( CSU ). PRC assists students
who identify as or with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
queer ( LGBTQ ) culture/community with their transition to CSU and
throughout their academic careers by providing support and
encouragement for their academic, professional, cultural, and
personal development. PRC creates mutual opportunities and promotes
programs that offer diverse perspectives based on identities
through partnerships with other Student Diversity Programs. This
exchange via cooperative planning allows the PRC to support all
University services. Above all, this inclusive atmosphere committed
to cultural and social awareness allows students, staff, alumni and
community members to be united in the pursuit of a better future.
The PRC provides programs and services to support the retention,
graduation and success of students and contributes to an inclusive
campus environment by providing resources for LGBT and allies
awareness and education. The Director reports to the Assistant Vice
President for Student Affairs. Position Summary The Director for
the Pride Resource Center ( PRC ) is a full-time, 12-month position
reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, who
reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs. Staff members
include one Assistant Director, one Program Coordinator and student
staff. The Director is expected to provide forward thinking
leadership on behalf of the students, be aware of current and
relevant topics within the LGBTQ communities on campus and broader
society that will impact our student's experiences. The director
provides leadership for the administration and overall vision for
the center and all programs and services in conjunction with the
other professional and student staff. Pride Resource Center is part
of the Student Diversity Programs and Services cluster comprised of
the Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center, Black/African American
Cultural Center, El Centro, Native American Cultural Center,
Student Disability Center, the Women and Gender Advocacy Center,
and our intergroup relations position. Required Job
Qualifications
*Demonstrated experience with coordination, planning and
facilitation of social justice educational programming on topics
related to LGBTQ identity and intersectionality, across multiple
identities (ie: race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class,
disability, religion, etc.)
*Demonstrated awareness and understanding of current trends related
to academic retention and transition, student development process
and career concerns for LGBTQ students.
*Demonstrated experience with direct supervision. Preferred Job
Qualifications *Demonstrated direct experience and understanding
working with and supporting diverse populations (ie: race,
ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, disability, religion,
etc.)
*Experience with budget and program management.
*Demonstrated proposal and grant writing skills.
*Demonstrated success in working with faculty, staff and students
in a higher education setting.
*Personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated
by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources
and/or accountability for diversity outcomes.
*Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with the general
public, tactful and diplomatic approach to problem solving,
sensitivity to needs and concerns of LGBTQ students and the
community.
*Collaborative style of leadership, soliciting input from
colleagues in decision-making process.
*Ability to understand and articulate sexual orientation and gender
identity as a social identity, and the needs and concerns from a
social justice/intersectional/multicultural perspective that

Duty/Responsibility --- Supervise, hire, support, develop and
evaluate 2 fulltime professional staff
--- Develop annual budget and manage fiscal accounts for Pride
Resource Center's multiple budgets (i.e. state funding, gift
accounts) totaling $250K
--- Serve as organizational leader and collaborative member of the
professional staff team
--- Serve as a leader in the Student Diversity Programs and
Services cluster
--- Serve as a campus leader and advocate for issues related to
equity and social justice, leading with lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, queer community and the intersectionality of
identities
--- Actively embrace and role model Colorado State University's
Principles of Community
--- Provides leadership in developing, articulating, and
implementing the vision/mission for the Pride Resource Center,
which aligns with the Division of Student Affairs and the
University's vision/mission
--- Advocate for LGBTQ students to ensure their needs and concerns
are addressed, academically with faculty, with university processes
and procedures that are actively inclusive, counseling and mental
health, and general university departments and units.
--- Develop and support partnerships with other campus departments
and academic colleges to enhance the retention of LGBTQ
students
--- Understand campus resources, policies and procedures and serve
as a reliable and accurate source and advocate of information to
current and perspective students and their families Provide and
support opportunities for LGBTQ students to become leaders on the
campus and in the broader community
--- Provide a safe and comfortable Center environment that welcomes

regularly scheduled Division, Cluster, campus meetings and staff

--- Administer and manage the Center's organizational functions
including budget, accounts, facility and equipment use, policy
development, preparation of reports, development of publications,
public relations, and proposal writing for external funding
--- Coordinate and manage storage closet and kitchen usage/cleaning
with other SDPS directors in same shared spaces
--- Supervise department personnel effectively to insure programs
and services support the campus-wide strategic goals, vision and
mission
--- Develop and support programs, policies and procedures to
support student success, retention and graduation of LGBT
students.
--- Conduct on-going assessment of program effectiveness
--- Assist in the facilitation of campus diversity training
--- Provide support and guidance to university recognized student
organizations
--- Participate in the campus orientations, resource fairs, and
requested presentations
--- Develop, lead, and facilitate Safe Zone trainings
--- Serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs and
