Job Description - Director Lean Manufacturing (2103348) Director Lean Manufacturing - 2103348 Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a leader in Lean Manufacturing, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Director of Lean Manufacturing is recognized as the CoE subject matter expert in the company production system. Partners with the CoE operational leadership to drive results in the organization utilizing established principles. Reports to the Vice President, Operations. Will assess and recommend project identification/selection, assuring linkage between projects, business and customer priorities focused on improving the Strategy Deployment process and CoE performance metrics. The Director of Lean Manufacturing serves as the expert and "go to" person for the True North team at the CoE and provides guidance and recommendations to the top leadership within the CoE. This position accomplishes objectives through leading a multi-disciplined CI team to achieve operational excellence in support of company visions, including On- time Delivery, Delivered Quality, productivity improvement/cost reductions, purchased goods quality and delivery and OEM and aftermarket lead-time requirements. What you will be doing

  • Drives a strategic mindset and commitment to operational excellence across the operation (i.e. defines improvement goals, establishes accountability through QDRC metrics)
  • Influences and drives standard principles and tools across a Woodward site or campus in the alignment of the True North philosophies, methodologies and overarching best practices that is impactful and current with "Best in Class" industry practices
  • Demonstrates an excellent ability to see the bigger picture of influences and impacts across multi-functions of True North applications
  • Uses True North systems, tools and techniques to continually improve processes and business results
  • Establishes True North standard work within the business unit to ensure adherence to established, standard processes and understanding of the value of True North principle
  • Understands and builds alignment on standard work across multiple functional areas including, but not limited to, Suppliers, Production Engineering, Development Engineering, and Manufacturing
  • Improves processes throughout the business unit. This may include product manufacturing/assembly, product testing, shipping and delivery of finished goods, and transactional activities
  • Utilizes the department to support the various processes within the value stream. This may include the development of new products derived from the PLC (Product Life Cycle) process
  • Accountable for paradigm shifts for "game changing" systems implementations
  • Provides leadership to business unit members and staff by leading, managing, supporting and coaching members, ensuring continual development of True North competencies
  • Participates as a key member of the CoE Leadership team
  • Mentors and coaches at all levels of the organization in the proper application of SIOP, WLSW and VSA while developing direct reports in CI position
  • Responsible for the development, improvement, and delivering of the WPS training
  • Stays abreast of current operations best practice trends and methodologies
  • Promotes safety and housekeeping throughout each process and manufacturing floor OTHER FUNCTIONS
    • May participate in and/or lead business unit or enterprise-wide projects
    • Engages across functional departments providing expertise of systems, principles and tools of True North
    • May manage team of Continuous Improvement members within the CoE based on site size, complexity, etc.
    • Leads talent management initiatives (development plans, succession planning, performance management) What We Are Looking For
      • At least 10 years of professional experience working within a LEAN manufacturing environment
      • Demonstrated success in implementing large scale Lean/Six Sigma concepts
      • Expert experience in an operations leadership or CI role involving coaching, teaching or mentoring other on operation process and principles within a LEAN manufacturing environment
      • Bachelor's Degree in management or a technical field required, Masters of Science in management or technical field preferred
      • Project Management certificate preferred
      • Possesses strong Operations focus; proven ability to lead and manage one or more product families with the following attributes: Six Sigma methodology, successful track record in a LEAN manufacturing environment, stringent quality standards, and progressive/contemporary operational concepts and practices
      • Ability to understand, support and lead the implementation of LEAN Manufacturing techniques (waste elimination, parts flow and pull) and Six Sigma methodologies
