CSU Health Network
The CSU Health Network at Colorado State University provides a full range of cost-effective mental health and primary care medical services on campus, referral for community specialty care, and comprehensive health education and prevention services programming. Services such as physical therapy, dentistry, and optometry are available. The CSU Health Network is active in creating a healthy campus environment to support learning and success. Medical Clinic
The Medical Clinic at the CSU Health Network provides acute and chronic care to CSU students by appointments and on a walk-in basis for urgent concerns. Primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners care for students, with emphasis on preventive care, education, and continuity. The medical staff are supported by a full range of laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychiatry, optometry, and nutrition services on site, and integrated care with counseling staff enhances the treatment of students with behavioral health concerns. Minor procedures are performed in the clinic. The Medical Clinic provides services between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Friday, providing attractive work schedules for staff. Position Summary The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Physician Assistant provides outpatient adult and occasionally adolescent psychiatric evaluations, medication management and brief psychotherapy; responsible for psychiatric assessments and management, ordering and interpreting tests and documenting in the electronic health record; assesses patient progress and modifies treatment plans accordingly; institutes emergency hospitalizations for patients in crisis for their safety and stabilization when needed; refers patients to community providers when needed; provides tele psychiatry services through video/phone conferencing.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Physician Assistant reports to the Director of Psychiatric Services and works as a provider of psychiatric care. Required Job Qualifications Education/Certification

  • Possession of a master's degree or higher as an advanced practice nurse or physician assistant.
  • Certified by the ANCC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or NCCPA as a certified Psychiatric Physician Assistant.
  • Possession of a current DEA number for authorization of prescriptive privileges or the ability to obtain one by the start date.
  • Possession of Colorado Prescriptive Authority.
  • Possession of a current Colorado Medical License or the ability to obtain one by the start date. Experience
    • Two years of experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant with psychiatric certification in a family, adult or college setting with a broad range of clinical experience in mental health care. Preferred Job Qualifications Experience
      • Three years of experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant with psychiatric certification in a family, adult or college setting with a broad range of clinical experience in mental health care.
      • Experience or willingness to work in an integrated health care setting.
      • Experience working with an electronic health record system.

            • Consults with psychiatrists, medical providers and counselors at the CSU Health Network, CSU campus and community entities as needed. May consult and coordinate with student's family as appropriate.

              • May serve as a clinical preceptor for Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant students as time allows.
