Research programs include those related to mycobacteria, retroviruses, prions, and arthropod-borne infectious diseases, as well as the diagnostic investigation of naturally-occurring animal diseases. A leader in education, MIP provides the only microbiology undergraduate degree program in Colorado, a graduate program that provides training in a number of cutting-edge disciplines, and several specialized veterinary residency training programs. - Position Summary The Dean-Vilander laboratory in the Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology Department at Colorado State University is seeking a Research Associate II to conduct research. The Dean-Vilander lab studies orally delivered mucosal vaccines and microbiome-mucosal immune system interactions. This individual will be responsible for running diagnostic assays including qPCR, PCR , ELISAs, flow cytometry and ELISPOT . In addition, the individual will manage mouse vaccination studies and maintain mouse colonies and transgenic mouse breeding. The position will also assist with laboratory administrative support (i.e. ordering and equipment checks, sample inventory, etc) and teaching of students in the laboratory at all stages of training (undergraduate through post-doctoral fellows). - Required Job Qualifications -Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of professional, post-baccalaureate (or equivalent) experience. -Mastery of mouse handling and experience with basic techniques (blood collect, gavage, etc.) -Experience/familiarity with basic immunology methods Preferred Job Qualifications Experience with molecular cloning, tissue culture techniques, diagnostic assays, flow cytometry, and microbiome sample collection/analysis are preferred.
