Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 07/07/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel 1 year recent med surge exp required ,SONU (Ortho/Neuro/Surg) Unit SONU (Ortho/Neuro/Surg) Unit Type Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Required Certifications BLS, NIHSS RN Compact license covid card and references Charting System Epic Systems Corporation – EpicCare Inpatient – EMR Unit Notes - Drip Management: Nurses are responsible for titrating drips including Heparin and Ketamine (set rate), as well as managing antibiotics and blood products. - IV Management: Frequent IV therapy administration is required. - Telemetry/Monitor Technicians: Dedicated monitor technicians are available to read telemetry strips; however, prior experience in telemetry interpretation is preferred. The unit utilizes [tele brand] monitors. Staffing & Support - Charge Nurse: Begins shift one hour earlier than staff (05:45–06:15) and is generally kept out of direct patient assignments to serve as a resource. - Nurse Aides: CNA staffing ratios are typically 1:8–12. CNA II staff may assist with certain tasks such as removing IVs and Foley catheters. - Respiratory Therapy/Equipment: The unit employs BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannulas (NC) for respiratory support. Scheduling & Shifts - Shift Hours: 06:45 – 19:15 - Self-Scheduling: Staff are able to self-schedule and collaborate with the unit secretary to block out time for contracted shifts. Block scheduling is available, though flexibility is encouraged. - Weekend Requirements: A minimum of 4 weekend shifts is required within each 4-week scheduling period. - Holiday Requirements: Holiday shifts are required as part of regular scheduling. - On-Call/Standby: Occasional on-call shifts may occur during low census periods; however, staff are commonly called back in as needed. Floating Requirements - Registered Nurses may float to Medical, Medical Oncology, and Telemetry units. These units may include management of cardiac drips. Scrub Policy - Navy blue scrubs featuring the CRMC logo are required. Orientation - Unit-Specific Orientation: Includes 2–3 shifts during the first week. Additional Notes - Staff must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients. - The unit is fast-paced with a high patient turnover rate. - Nurses are issued phones and trackers for communication and monitoring. - This is a Magnet-designated facility, certified in stroke and bariatric care. - Overtime is permitted as needed.
