for a full-time custodian for our elementary school. All duties
listed below would be shared by both custodians. Classification:
Nonexempt Reports to: Operations Manager The school custodian
maintains and protects our facilities. The external and internal
appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important
for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and
tidying the premises, as well as preventing vandalism. The school
custodian will undertake the care and upkeep of our facility as
well as present a positive role model for our students. The school
custodian will not only be working with the maintenance, cleaning
and care of our school, but will be working with the school
community, especially children, and as such their safety is of
primary importance. The following statements of duties,
responsibilities, frequency, and percentages are intended to
describe the general nature and level of work being performed by
individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not

depending on other factors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clean
school hallways, corridors and classrooms by dusting, sweeping,
vacuuming and mopping floors Wash down bathrooms using a variety of
cleaning liquids such as detergents and bleach Mix cleaning
materials by following safe practices and dispose of any unused
mixture in a safe manner Vacuum and shampoo carpets in school
offices and reception areas Dust and polish all furniture in
classrooms, offices and waiting areas Clean mirrors in bathrooms
and ensure that floors and counters are disinfected properly
Replenish toiletries such as soap, toilet paper and towels several
times a day Empty all garbage cans from classrooms, toilets,
cafeterias and offices and dispose them appropriately Clean
cafeteria sinks and disinfect and clean drinking fountains Handle
minor repair and maintenance activities such as bulb replacement
and floor buffing Ensure that school grounds are free from litter
and debris Remove snow from sidewalks using shovels and salt
sidewalks and walkways Assist in the setup and teardown of
decorations and furniture for school events and programs Ensure
school and playground equipment is safe and playground mulch is
raked under fall areas. Order and store cleaning and maintenance
supplies and maintain inventory on a regular basis Set up,
supervise and teardown lunch To perform this job successfully, an

Required: Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning
equipment Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other
hazardous components Familiarity with basic landscaping and
handyman practices Preferred: High school diploma or GED 1 years
custodial experience 1 years working with children experience The
physical demands, work environment factors, and mental functions

Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
frequently required to talk or hear. This position is very active
and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping,
crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must
frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional school
environment. The noise level is in the work environment is usually
moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles, moving
mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally
exposed to outside weather conditions. Mental Functions: While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to
compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, instruct, compute,
synthesize, evaluate and negotiate. Occasionally required to copy
and compile. Typical end time: 7:00PM Typical start time: 10:30AM
Work Remotely No Job Type: Full-time Pay: $20.00-24.00 per hour
