What You Will Do:
Space Domain Awareness (SDA) includes the effective
detection, tracking, identification, and characterization of
near-Earth satellites and space debris, and the understanding of
any factor associated with the space domain that could affect space
operations and thereby impact the security, safety, economy, or
environment of our Nation and its allies.
SDA Engineers / Orbital Analysts support Numericas growing programs
in SDA through the development, maturation, and commercialization
of Numericas SDA-related technologies, and through the generation,
curation, and distribution of high-quality data and information
products from our global telescope network.
The successful applicant will work on projects that carry varying
responsibilities, such as:
Recommended Background and Experience
- Contribute to the direction of a talented small team with your
expertise and ideas;
- Develop software to help automate and enhance data processing
and data visualization;
- Provide analytical support to our SDA customers and support SDA
- Exercise Numericas SDA software using real-time and historical
data, and perform quality assurance on its outputs;
- Support ongoing and future transitions of Numericas SDA
products and services to space operations centers and technology
- Engage with our SDA customers and other stakeholders to ensure
successful outcomes for their mission-critical needs;
- Prepare technical reports and briefing materials.
U.S. Citizenship Required
- B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Computer Science, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant
work experience (2 years credit given for an M.S.);
- Proficiency with the Linux operating system and experience
developing applications in at least two of the following software
languages: Python, C/C++, and MATLAB;
- Record of academic excellence, with training in astrodynamics,
estimation theory, statistical analysis, remote sensing, machine
learning, and optimization considered a plus;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the
demonstrated ability to convey salient details about advanced
technology in a compelling manner to both experts and non-experts
Due to the nature of the work performed at
Numerica, all applicants must be capable of obtaining a U.S.
Security Clearance. At a minimum, this requires that a candidate be
a U.S. citizen with a personal history indicating trustworthiness,
reliability, and sound judgement (e.g., clean criminal record, no
use of illegal drugs, etc.).
Salary range: $80,900-$164,300 estimated annual base salary plus
