Extension is a major component of the Universitys outreach organization serving Colorados 64 counties. Through its county, state, and federal partnerships, Extension currently focuses its efforts in Environmental Horticulture; 4-H Youth Development; Community and Economic Development; Family and Consumer Science; Health, Nutrition and Food Safety; Food Systems; Cropping Systems; Livestock and Range; Natural Resources; and Energy. Working closely with local and state advisory groups to determine local program needs and direction, Extension draws on the resources of 13 different departments in five colleges to provide non-credit educational programs based on research-generated knowledge. To learn more about Colorado State University Extension, go to olostate.edu/. The CSU Extension Colorado Master Gardener (rg/) Program engages over 1400 active volunteers across 40+ counties. The program offers educational opportunities to non-volunteers through Green School (rg/) , a Colorado-specific horticulture training for both volunteers and other learners. Additionally, the Certified Gardener Badge Program (/) is a non-credit on-line instructional course based on the Green School curriculum, yet designed to be flexible, self-paced, and structured around the individuals needs. The certified gardener badging program is not Colorado-specific allowing participants from across the country to earn digital badges by taking individual horticulture courses, bundling courses, or completing the full program. Search Contact Email Position Summary The position provides support for horticulture program outreach related to state-led work including the Colorado Master Gardener program, Green School training and the Certified Gardener Digital Badging program. This position works cooperatively with the Statewide Colorado Master Gardener Coordinator, county-based and university Extension personnel to implement programs and trainings, evaluation coordination and reporting efforts. The Horticulture Program Assistant provides appropriate support, facilitation and linkages to university and external resources including marketing and promotion of horticulture outreach. The office for this position is in the State Extension Administration Office in the University Square building located at 1311 South College Avenue in Fort Collins. Due to COVID -19 restrictions and the nature of the work, this position may be eligible to work from home or another county Extension office. Position Minimum Qualifications Completed undergraduate degree.
One degree must have been conferred in horticulture, public horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, weed science, forestry, natural resources, small acreage management, urban agriculture, community food systems, Extension education or closely related plant sciences field.
Ability to communicate through teaching, public speaking/presentation and writing as demonstrated through application materials and experience.
Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.
Experience teaching with and developing curricula for online instruction, using learning management systems such as Canvas (preferred), Blackboard, or Moodle.
Evidence of drive and initiative.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date. Preferred Qualifications Completed or currently enrolled in a Masters degree.
Training and experience in consumer horticulture (growing and managing fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants).
Ability to read, converse and translate Spanish. Essential Job Duties Job Duty Category Co-coordinate and Implement Extensions Green School Program Duty/Responsibility Manage the CSU Extension Green School Horticulture training program with guidance from the statewide coordinator.
Support all aspects of program scheduling, registration, payment, communication and database management.
Serve as a primary contact for implementation including online course enrollment, weekly live sessions, tracking student progress, and email communications.
Assist in program evaluation and reporting.
Manage certificate production and mailing following the course. Assist with program evaluation and reporting.

Collaborate with coordinators across the state as needed to answer questions and provide support. Work closely with the Colorado Master Gardener Statewide coordinator to develop new strategies for outreach.
