Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The primary purpose of the UNCG Center for Translational Biomedical Research is to conduct basic and translational research in human diseases, with focuses on biomarkers for early diagnosis of disease, understanding of disease pathogenesis and development of novel interventions for disease prevention and treatment.

Position Summary

This position is located in Kannapolis, NC.

The position will perform grant-funded research projects related to human diseases, including method development and biological applications proteomics and operation of LC-MS instrumentation.

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position include a PhD degree in the field of chemistry, life sciences or biomedicine. A minimal 2 years of post degree research experience in LC-MS based proteomics of mamillian cell, tissue and biofluid is required.

The position requires professional skills in research design, data acquisition, data analysis, biological interpretation of results, manuscript preparation and presentation of research findings.

The position requires expert knowledge in global and targeted proteomics work flow, extensive hands-on experience in proteomic sample preparation, operation of Thermo QExactive series and TSQ Quantiva or similar mass spectrometers and related LC systems from Thermo, data analysis tools such as MaxQuant, Skyline, Perseus, Proteome Discoverer and Peaks.

The candidate for this position must possess good communication skills and the ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. In addition, previous experience with cell culture, protein biomarker studies of type 1 diabetes, knowledge of immunology, protein PTM analysis, and strong records in scientific publications are preferred.
