Job Description ABOUT OUR JOB Denver International Airport (DEN) is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who will serve both the Airside and Landside Engineering groups as part of the Airport Infrastructure Management division. This role will serve both groups and will require cross training on business processes, security, FAA requirements, and many other facets in working at an airport. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, be organized, have a willingness to learn, and possess effective communication skills.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will perform intermediate level professional engineering work on a variety of projects, which includes working on construction and maintenance projects. You may have projects specific to the airfield such as future runway construction, existing runway and taxiway rehabilitation, upgrades to existing concrete and asphalt pavement, airfield lighting and airside infrastructure projects. Landside projects may include rehabilitation of parking lots and bridges, construction of roadways for planned development, management of the pavement management system (PAVER) software, rehabilitation of roads to include asphalt and concrete pavement, and any other landside infrastructure projects.

Essential duties of this position include but are not limited to: Act as a design team leader on airfield projects; including managing consultant contract, design oversight and review, and stakeholder communication/coordination. Attends stakeholder meetings that are complex in order to resolve issues and provide information. Cultivates, fosters, and maintains positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects. Resolves conflicts, develops creative solutions, and keeps team members focused on overall goals. Prepares and presents a variety of special engineering studies, correspondence, records, files, and reports. Performs intermediate level professional engineering work involving airport projects or programs. Identifies, designs, plans, develops, coordinates, and manages design, construction, and/or maintenance for engineering projects related to both the airfield and landside infrastructure. This includes work on runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, bridges, utilities and other infrastructure projects. Works with stakeholders both internal and external to the city, working with intergovernmental organizations, interacting with utility companies, other city agencies and departments, elected officials, and works with consultants, contractors, Airlines, Tenants, and Stakeholders. Confers with management to establish project plans, goals, scope of work, and project work plans including time frames, funding limitations, contract costs, risk factors, and allotment of available resources to various phases of a project. Assists with and prepares project bid materials and engineer estimates, which includes evaluating bid qualifications and proposals, and works with stakeholders on project designs, concepts, and timeframes for project completion. Prepares project budgets, scope and life cycle schedule in the planning and define phase, ensures quality control, and the project meets DEN requirements. Performs appropriate discipline specific calculations, analyses, drawing development, and design support work. Assists or participates in preparing bid materials defining scope of work and related information necessary for request for qualifications (RFQ) and request for proposals (RFP) and responding to questions concerning the project and /or contractors. Participates in design and construction coordination meetings involving private development projects and DEN capital improvement projects to ensure timely approval and completion of projects. Reviews and evaluates project drawings, design plans, and project development documents for permits, regulatory compliance and compliance with DEN Design Standard Manuals. Prepares a variety of engineering studies, correspondences, and reports, capital improvement projects, prepares feasibility studies, conducts and reviews consultant proposals and contracts. Reviews projects to ensures compliance with engineering codes and standards, monitors projects for quality, identifies strategies to overcome barriers, ensures materials comply with project specifications, reviews calculations, and performs field and site inspections. May perform lead work or supervision over technical or clerical employees or contractors. Other duties as assigned. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: Three (3) plus years of experience in design for a commercial airport particularly with airfield pavement and lighting rehab. Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to interface with different individuals (various stakeholders, agency representatives, co-workers, etc.) Ability to collaborate with various individuals at different levels and teams of an organization Previous experience with AutoCad, Microsoft Office Suite, P6, Textura and Unifier softwares. Effective verbal and written communication skills while working remotely. Highly organized with experience using project management software. Team-oriented with a strong ability to be collaborative.
