Full time: teach 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring) Employee Benefits Position Type Faculty Work Hours/Week Description of Work Unit The mission of the Department of Mathematics is A) to maintain an outstanding program of research in pure and applied mathematics, B) to maintain high quality undergraduate and graduate programs in mathematics, C) to offer service courses for the other Departments of the University, and D) to serve the University and the state with outreach programs. The Department has over 250 undergraduate majors and 66 graduate students, with currently 30 tenured and tenure-track faculty.Tenure/Tenure Track? % Research 0% % Teaching 100% % Service 0% % Administration 0% To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on 06/30/2021 Number of Vacancies Desired Start Date Position End Date Position Summary The Department of Mathematics seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in a non-tenure track assignment.Applications will be reviewed when a vacancy occurs.Instructors are hired on a part-time basis each semester which is determined by departmental instructor need, student enrollment numbers, and funding.Non-tenure track Assistant Professor assignments typically last up to a 9 month period or more, and can be either part-time or full-time, depending on the needs of the department.These positions will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.Conditions of Employment Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires) Required Job Qualifications Instructor requirements: hold a Master of Science degree in Mathematics or closely related areas, and have previous university teaching experience in Mathematics.orNon-tenure track Assistant Professor requirements: hold a PhD in Mathematics or closely related areas, and have 3 years previous university teaching experience in Mathematics.Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Preferred Job Qualifications Experience teaching large sections (greater than 75 students) in a variety of calculus classes and beyond.Experience coordinating large service courses in Mathematics, calculus and above.Experience with pedagogy in teaching, using labs, flipped classrooms, smart technologies, and inquiry based learning methods.Special Instructions to Applicants Interested applicants should electronically submit a cover letter, a current resume/curriculum vitae that details relevant research and/or teaching experience, a statement of research and/or teaching interest, and the names and contact information for 3 references.
