Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of the Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and
Academic Program Planning (OAAAPP) is to support the University by
leading activities related to University-wide accreditation and
To accomplish its mission, OAAAPP provides consultation,
training, and administrative and technical support related to
assessment, including General Education; internal and external
academic program change procedures; SACSCOC compliance; and
strategic planning activities for faculty and staff.
The Academic Program Specialist has a significant role in
monitoring academic program activity in order to identify program
changes that need to be reported to the UNC System Office and
SACSCOC, maintain the institution's inventory of academic programs,
and support the Graduate Council's curriculum review processes.
This person leads efforts to identify substantive changes to
academic programs, and to report them to the accrediting body,
SACSCOC. Knowing SACSCOC Substantive Change policies and what
triggers a report to SACSCOC is central to this person's skills.
This person also has a lead role in managing the approval processes
for academic programs to the UNC System Office. Connected to
managing external reporting processes is ensuring all internal
documents, websites, and publications accurately report the
institution's academic programs. Finally, this person will manage
curriculum revisions for graduate courses and programs and support
the Graduate Council's activities by preparing curriculum review
materials and meeting materials. All of these activities require
relationship building with faculty and staff across campus. The
Specialist will report to the Associate Vice Provost and Director
of Assessment, Accreditation, and Academic Program Planning.
* Graduate degree or Bachelor's degree and three years of
relevant experience required. * High degree of accuracy and

Monitor academic program changes for SACSCOC Substantive
a.) Know SACSCOC Substantive Change Policy.
b.) Review proposed or submitted undergraduate and graduate
program revisions for application of the Substantive Change
c.) Work with faculty to ensure the University is in compliance
with the SACSCOC policy at all times. Submit complete documentation
in accordance with policy and on appropriate schedules to earn
approval as needed by the institution.
d.) Assist in drafting accreditation responses related to
Substantive Change and curriculum review processes.

a.) Manage submission of graduate level curriculum revisions
from academic departments. Support faculty in their use of the
Curriculum Inventory Management software to submit curriculum
