Integrated into the veterinary medical team, Argus counselors facilitate client decision-making about their pets' medical treatment, quality of life and end-of-life issues. Counselors provide crisis intervention, brief counseling, and grief support for people with pets as well as the faculty, clinicians, staff and students of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Position Summary Integrated into the veterinary medical team, this position facilitates client decision-making about their pets' medical treatment, quality of life and end-of-life assessment. This position provides crisis intervention, grief counseling, and grief support for people with pets as well as the faculty, clinicians, staff and students of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Required Job Qualifications Master degree required from an accredited college or university, preferably in the following areas social work, human development and family studies, counseling or clinical psychology. Minimum of two years experience in general clinical counseling specifically providing support in the field of grief, death and dying. Appreciation of the human-animal bond and the impact of pet death on families and clinical professionals essential. Proficiency in computer skills, to include word processing, operating systems, spreadsheets, and graphics Excellent multi-tasking, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Desire to work as a collaborative and supportive team member in a veterinary clinical setting. Preferred Job Qualifications Experience in an academic environment Work in a medical setting providing crisis intervention. Teaching experience in informal or formal settings. Work experience in a veterinary or medical setting.
