Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:

  • Cultivates connections to programs, services, businesses/employers, and other resources within the region to ensure the obtainment of successful employment goals.
  • Acts as the primary connection between Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and LCEWD services.
  • Will develop a strong working relationship with DVR in order to provide a seamless transition for the LCEWD customer.
  • Provides access to disability related training, conducts community mapping of disability services, and provides assistance with referrals to internal and external partners.
  • Uses job coaching provisions as it pertains to work history, education and interest, as well as job search navigation and counseling on labor market information.
  • Develops relationships and collaborates on an ongoing basis with employers and employer organizations to promote the hiring of people with disabilities and to facilitate their job placement.
  • Develops relationships with community organizations that support persons with disabilities and informs partners and LCEWD/DVR staff of these opportunities.
  • Participates on the LCEWD Accessibility Review Team and provide recommendations to ensure services, programs and equipment are accessible to people with disabilities.To view the full job description, visit https://www.larimer.org/hr/careers/job-descriptions#/app/detail/Employment_Specialist.

    We are looking for a candidate that will:
    • Have experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
    • Have a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities as they identify their skills, proficiencies, and aspirations.
    • Attend community-based appointments or events.
    • Accurately complete reporting in various programs including Connecting Colorado.
    • Ensure confidentiality of all program files and records, maintaining compliance with Federal, State, and county regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures.
    • Establish, maintain, and foster positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    • Operate a computer and Google Suite/Microsoft Office Applications, with an ability to become familiar with emerging programs and software.
    • Effectively present information to individuals and groups.
    • Be bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently (preferred).
    • Acquire knowledge and develop subject matter expertise in the field of disability services.

      Qualifications
      All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
      • Two (2) years of experience in a related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities is required.
      • High School Diploma or GED, required.

          Supplemental Information
          The typical schedule for this position is 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

          An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. Successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
