Equipment Incentive CMRP $3500 CMRT $1000 Machine Lube Tech I $500 Machine Lube Tech II $1000 6G Welding Certification $1000 This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications: Mechanical Industrial Technician ($29.85 - $41.64 Hourly) Performs skilled mechanical work in the installation, modification, maintenance, fabrication and repair of Metro equipment and structures. Assists in the troubleshooting of technical and/or potentially hazardous processes and equipment. Works under the direction of a supervisor. Mechanical Industrial Technician Senior ($32.24 - $44.98 Hourly) Performs skilled mechanical work in the installation, modification, maintenance, fabrication and repair of Metro equipment and structures. Takes on an advanced role of working and troubleshooting mechanical equipment at Metro. Assists in the development of preventive maintenance and training activities. Assists with the planning and layout of jobs, coordinates, directs, and may train other crew members and Mechanical Apprentices. Works under the direction of a supervisor. Qualifications: Mechanical Industrial Technician Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of: Standard mechanical practices, methods, materials, and tools Mechanical systems such as pumps, piping, and drive systems Maintenance of large industrial equipment found at an industrial plant Industrial safety procedures Operations and maintenance manuals Microsoft Office Skilled at: Millwright, machinist, pipefitter, welder or as an industrial maintenance mechanic Installing, maintaining and/or repairing large industrial equipment found at an industrial plant Researching mechanical issues and troubleshooting Training apprentice and staff in proper MIT practices and skills Use of hand and power tools and shop equipment Reading and modifying layouts and blueprints Ability to: Organize and coordinate work assignments Effectively communicate orally and in writing Education, License, and Certifications Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Completion of a four-year apprenticeship in a related field or an Academic degree or trade school certification (or equivalent) in a related technology. Valid Driver's License. Mechanical Industrial Technician Senior Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Standard mechanical practices, methods, materials, and tools at an expert level. Mechanical systems such as pumps, piping, and drive systems found at a wastewater plant. Maintenance of large industrial equipment found at a wastewater plant. Industrial safety procedures. Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Operations and maintenance manuals. Preventative maintenance. Microsoft Office. Skilled at: Good verbal and written communication. Training apprentice and staff in proper MIT practices and skills. Acting as a subject matter expert in the maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems. Installing, modifying, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems. Ability to: Organize and coordinate work assignments, including post-job follow-up documentation and communication. Train apprentices. Direct the onsite work of other crew members and tradesmen. Coordinate with other Metro divisions and staff. Education, License, and Certifications Graduation from High School or GED equivalent. Completion of a four-year apprenticeship in a related field or an Academic degree or trade school certification (or equivalent) in a related technology. Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professional's (SMRP) Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT). Working Conditions: Mechanical Industrial Technician Work Environment While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to work in high, precarious places, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), work with explosives, and risk of radiation less than 1/3 of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to climb or balance and taste or smell 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and is required to sit less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds more than 2/3 of the time, and up to 100 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and more than 100 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
